Some students from years 8 - 10 visited High House Production Park to explore the ideas of costume and stage design. Uniform

By requiring the students to wear the Academy uniform, it is intended to develop their sense of loyalty to the community of which they are members, and to encourage them to take pride in their appearance. 

Students are expected to wear full Academy uniform on the way to and from the Academy. Blazers are to be worn at all times except in lessons when teachers have given permission for them to be removed.

Blazer

Regulation Harris Academy Ockendon Navy blazer with Harris Academy Ockendon logo and trimmings.
House colours (badge) should be worn above the Academy badge at all times.                              

  If a student chooses to wear an academy jumper they must also wear their blazer, not just their jumper

Jumper

Navy V-neck with a burgundy stripe.
Jumpers only can be worn under the blazer. No other jumper, cardigans or sweatshirts are permitted.

Kilt

Harris Academy Ockendon kilt (Burgundy and Navy) as provided by the uniform supplier. Kilts should be knee length and worn on the waist.

Trousers

Plain charcoal grey, straight leg or slim fit full-length trousers.

Tie

Regulation Harris Academy Ockendon clip-on tie - Burgundy with coloured stripe to denote the relevant year group;

Blouse

Plain white open neck blouse, tucked in and buttoned.

Shirt

Plain white collared shirt, tucked in and buttoned. Collared shirts should be worn with the regulation academy tie.

Socks

Plain black long socks worn below the knee or plain black mid-calf socks.

Tights

Plain black. No footless, patterned or fishnet tights or leggings.

Shoes

Plain black shoes. No trainers, Tovni Lacer Kickers or similar, ankle boots, knee length boots, fabric shoes or shoes with open toes or open heels. No trimmings.
Laces and stitching must be black. (Students will not be allowed to attend lessons if trainers are worn to the Academy).

Coat

Plain outdoor coat/jacket (no logos) which should cover the blazer. No denim, leather, cardigans, sweatshirts or tracksuit tops. Hooded tops are not to be worn at the Academy. Any garment of this kind will be confiscated.

PE Kit

Grey polo shirt with Harris Academy Ockendon logo. Black shorts, tracksuit bottoms, skirt or skort. Academy black (with white trim) all-weather training top (optional).

All jewellery must be removed for PE lessons.

Hair

Long hair is dangerous in practical lessons and must be tied back with a plain black ribbon or hair band. Sensible hair styles only with no excessive colour. Extreme hair styles or colours are not permitted. No decorative attachments are to be worn in the hair. Hair bands must be plain black.

General

No coloured nail varnish. Nail extensions must not be worn at any time.

Tinted or cosmetic contact lenses are not permitted.  

Students are not permitted to wear long fake eyelashes.  Students will not be permitted to attend lessons until they have removed such items.

Black scarves, hats (no bandanas, hoods or caps) and black gloves only to be worn and these must be removed once inside the Academy. 

Hijabs & Turbans

Worn for religious purposes, must be plain navy.

Jewellery

No jewellery except for one wristwatch. One pair of silver or gold coloured (no stones) stud earrings. These should be no larger than 4mm in diameter. Nose studs and other forms of body piercing are not permitted. No accessories are to be worn or attached to clothing apart from the Academy badges.

Valuables

Large amounts of money and/or expensive personal belongings should not be brought to the Academy. Harris Academy Ockendon will not accept liability for any claim arising from theft, accidental damage or loss to personal items, money, belongings or clothing whilst at the Academy.

Smart watches, bluetooth speakers, personal media devices, computer games etc., MUST NOT be brought to the Academy.  Digital and electronic devices including mobile phones must be turned off and kept in the bottom of bags at all times.  Items seen or heard will be confiscated.

Second Hand Uniform Provision.

Students who leave the academy are encouraged to donate unwanted branded blazers, jumpers, and kilts in good condition to the school to be re-purposed for younger year groups. 
 
Thanks to these kind donations from families, stock levels are dependant on availability, and therefore not all types of garment, or sizes, will be available.
 
We ask for a voluntary donation of £5 to cover the costs of running the provision.  Please ensure you know the type and size of garment you require before you arrive at the school, as we are unable to accommodate any trying on of items.
 
Returns are only acceptable on the day of collection.
