Parent Information
These pages are designed for parents and carers, in order that they can support their child through the various stages in their educational journey and get them to their ambitious destinations.
How can I support my child?
Having conversations about careers, education, what is learnt in school and even talking about your own career pathway are all good ways of supporting your child. You can further support your child by encouraging them to access careers information online, by taking part in careers events in school, and attending events outside of school, such as open events for sixth form, colleges, or apprenticeships.
It can seem like there is an overwhelming amount of choice and lots of different options. There are some very good sources of information for parents and carers online to help guide you through what is on offer:
Apprenticeships – Resources to help decide if apprenticeships are the right choice, find out how do they work, and how to get started
Success at School - Resources for exploring careers, employment, and apprenticeships
UCAS – Resources for Parents and Carers
Are you a parent/carer with good employer links?
Do you run your own business or have an unusual job? If you would be interested in supporting the school in any way, either by providing a work experience placement, talking in an assembly or even having a stall at our careers fair, please get in touch with our Assistant Principal, Ms Sharpe via email at a.nutman@harrisockendon.org.uk to discuss the different opportunities in more detail.
