Welcome to the Harris Academy Ockendon Admissions information page, and thank you for considering our Academy as a secondary school for your child. 

This page tells you how to apply to the Academy and where to find further information.  Our full admissions policy, with details of our admissions criteria, can be downloaded from the bottom of the page. 

Parents are also advised to read the advice given by Thurrock Local Authority which includes how and when to apply, what to do if you wish to appeal and how to apply late or make 'in year' applications. The advice also includes catchment area information by address. All this guidance can be accessed here

Harris Academy Ockendon does not give priority to applications from students enroled at any particular primary or secondary school.

2nd September 2024 Application period opens at 9.00am
26th September 2024 Year 6 Open Evening 5.00-7.00pm
2nd, 7th, 9th, 15th, 17th October Principal Tours
31st October 2024 Application period closes for on-time applications
3rd March 2025 Notification of offers are available from 12.30am
30th April 2025 Admissions Appeals closing date
23rd, and 24th June 2025 Admissions Appeals heard

Appeals

Parents/carers will have the right of appeal to an independent appeal panel if they are dissatisfied with an admission decision of the academy.  The appeal panel will be independent of the academy.  The arrangements for appeals will be in line with the school’s admissions appeals code published by the Department for Education.  Should you wish to appeal, please complete the Appeals Application form at the bottom of the page.

Please be aware that any appeal must either demonstrate the academy has administered their admissions policy incorrectly or that HAOC can provide access to an education that your current school cannot.  If an appeal is made on medical grounds, evidence must be provided from a GP or hospital consultant.

Sixth Form

For September 2025 intake, our Sixth Form Open Evening took place on Thursday 21st November 2024 for both internal and external students.  

The closing date for receipt of applications is Wednesday 29th January 2025.
