Some students from years 8 - 10 visited High House Production Park to explore the ideas of costume and stage design. We were lucky enough to see real life set being built, painted and assembled for The Royal Opera house. Then students were able to design their own costumes. pic.twitter.com/pw2UCyL2gg

A-Level Exam Results 2024

HARRIS ACADEMY OCKENDON CELEBRATES A LEVEL SUCCESS

Students at Harris Academy Ockendon are celebrating today after being awarded an excellent set of Sixth Form results. Following the Academy’s ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted judgement earlier in the year, the staff are thrilled with the continued academic success of their students and incredibly proud of the resilience and tenacity demonstrated by all receiving their results today, many of whom are going on to study at some of the UK’s most prestigious universities.

A level results were strong for the fifth year in a row with over 65% of all grades awarded to students at a C grade or higher and a 96% pass rate overall- an excellent result. These results place Harris Academy Ockendon comfortably in line with the national average.  Students performed particularly well in A Levels such as Financial Studies and Media Studies, where the average grade achieved was a B+, and Art & Design, History and Geography where over a third of all grades were awarded A*/A.

Our Vocational students in BTEC Sport, Health and Social Care, and Enterprise and Entrepreneurship also performed to an exceptionally high standard, achieving an average grade of Distinction, indicating students on average were awarded a third of a grade above their target, a stunning result and above the national average once again.

The Academy’s notable successes include:

  • Harry Jones who achieved A*A*A* in Art & Design, English Literature and History and will be going on to read Anglo-Saxon, Norse & Celtic History at the University of Cambridge
  • Paul Barticel who achieved A*A*AA in Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Physics and will be going on to read Mathematics at the University of Bath
  • Katie Edwards who achieved A*A*B in Art & Design, English Literature and Media Studies and will be going on to read Fine Art at the University of the Arts, London
  • Stiliyan Georgiev who achieved AAA in Mathematics, Economics and Geography and will be going on to read Economics at the University of Bath
  • Quinn Hamani who achieved A*AB in English Literature, History and Media Studies and will be going on to read Classics at the University of Exeter
  • Monica Pavlova who achieved A*A*B in Biology, History and English and will be going onto read Law at Queen Mary University
  • Saira Reklaityte who achieved A*AA in Finance, Business and Government & Politics and will be going onto study Business at Queen Mary University
  • Daniel Stoychev who achieved AAA in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics and will be taking a gap year, with the intention of studying for a career in Dentistry

Jo Rainey, the Academy’s Principal, said:

“I am immensely proud of our students and their extraordinary achievements. These great results are a powerful testament to their hard work, as well as the unwavering support of our dedicated staff, who have been instrumental in helping our students reach their full potential. This milestone reflects the countless hours of study, sacrifice, and resilience they have shown throughout their journey. Whilst we celebrate with them today, their legacy will be one that continues to inspire the next generation of Harris Ockendon students who will strive to emulate these outstanding outcomes and go on to ambitious destinations. As they move forward on their new journeys, I am confident that the brilliance they have demonstrated will pave the way for endless opportunities in their futures.”
