Question

Response

Where can my child go for help?

The library is open every day before school, during break and lunch, as well as after school should your child need support or want somewhere quiet to get their homework done.

How do I check my child has done their homework?

We have had really good feedback from parents using our ‘Homework Tracker’ which students can tick off as they go.

For Bedrock, you can check by logging in and checking the total of 20 points (be careful, this automatically resets on a Sunday by Bedrock centrally, so make sure you are looking from Friday to Thursday).

For Sparx, you can check by logging in and looking at the percentages.

For Carousel, they are individual quizzes. You need to keep track of this as you go. Students need 80% to pass the quiz but can ‘submit’ as many times as they want, it will prompt them to ‘resit’ if they did not get 80%.

Bedrock and Sparx are taking too long, and it wants me to do more. I am running out of time to get other homework done.

Sparx and Bedrock are set up like games for students, they give points for progress. Don’t forget, they want you to keep on playing and improving!

But don’t let that get in the way of completing your homework across all three platforms.

Once you get to 100% on Sparx and 20 points on Bedrock, close those and do Carousel!

If you get your Carousel done in good time, then go back and do more Bedrock and Sparx if you want additional work.

My child cannot log in on Carousel?

There isn’t a home page on Carousel where you log in. Instead, you simply click the link, and it takes you to a specific quiz set by the teacher.

You need to type in your name exactly as it appears on the register (on Bromcom) and that will get you into the quiz.

I don’t know my login…

The best thing to do is email homework@harrisockendon.org.uk or go and see Mrs Atkins in the Library.
