Enrichment Options 2024-2025

Enrichment has been a very successful part of our curriculum at HAOC, and we are delighted to confirm that it is returning again this year. Please see below for further information and instructions to ensure your child has the best experience.

We provide enrichment within our curriculum because we understand that many of our students may be unable to access clubs before or after school. Our enrichment programme is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn new skills, widen their social circles, have experiences outside of their everyday norm, and of course have fun.

We do what is best for the students and we do this by sharing our own skills, hobbies, and interests to inspire the next generation. We have also given our students responsibility for their learning, by allowing them to choose two lessons throughout the year.

What do I need to do?

Your child has received an email from Mr Robertson that contains a catalogue (also included in the links below) and a form that must be completed by 9.00am on Monday 9th September. This form asks for students to make 4 choices from all of the options that have been provided.

Tuesday Enrichment Options

Thursday Enrichment Options

Please support your child by looking through the catalogue at our exciting offers and helping them to decide what options would be best for them. Please encourage them to try something new and not just what their friends are going to choose.

·         Remind students to check their school email for the form and catalogue.

·         The form must be opened by the student via their school email so that names are recorded correctly.

·         They must choose 4 different options. Do not allow them to make the same choice more than once.

·         Students may not receive their first choice as their first enrichment, so may get it in the second term.

·         Unfortunately, students are not guaranteed their first choice, but we will try our best to do so. This is most likely with cooking and boy’s football which are oversubscribed year on year.

·         If the form is not completed, or students have selected the same option more than once, then they may have to be given an enrichment that they did not choose.

·         If your child is in Year 8, please make sure they have opened the correct catalogue and form. Students in 8Cook, 8Newton, 8Pullen and 8Strike must select the Thursday Enrichment. Students in 8Tovey, 8Tudor, 8Wallace and 8Whitlock must select the Tuesday Enrichment.

·         Students are encouraged to try new things, which may be a challenge at first, but they should commit fully and make the most of the experience. Students will not be able to change their enrichment mid-term.

If you have any questions, please contact Mr Robertson via email at r.robertson@harrisockendon.org.uk.
